Building Fleets

There's info on our internal alliance page about building defences, but we don't have any guidance about building a balanced fleet. I have only got cargo ships and when I begin to build a proper fleet I wouldn't know where to start. Does anybody have any advice on this? How do you build your fleet? Is there a way we could build our fleets in order to benefit the alliance as a whole?

Quess there are better experts - but atm (rank 700+-) using balanced scheme (5-10 gaus cannons on planets + 10 cruisers + few battleships + some light fighters ) just to have some mobility (if i have chance to defend ) otherwise large cargos and moving resources if there isnt decent chance
